SECTION/RULE §81.147 - County Election Officer to Conduct Joint Primary

(a) Pursuant to §172.126(a) of the Texas Election Code, the county election officer shall supervise the overall conduct of joint primary elections.(b) The county election officer is responsible for:(1) appointing election judges and clerks;(2) determining the ballot format and type of voting system for each precinct; and(3) procuring election equipment and supplies.(c) The decision to conduct a joint general primary election or runoff primary election, as applicable, must be made by majority vote of the full membership of the commissioners court and with the unanimous approval of the county election officer and the county chair of each political party required to nominate candidates by primary election.
