SECTION/RULE §84.48 - Accommodations for Deaf or Hard of Hearing Students

(a) Consistent with the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. Section 12101 et seq.), a Driver Education Provider must make reasonable accommodations and provide aids and services when, providing the classroom portion of a driver education course, that are necessary to ensure that a student who is deaf or hard of hearing may fully participate in the course.(b) As part of the original or renewal application to obtain a driver education provider license, the applicant must provide the provider's plan for complying with §84.48(a).(c) A provider will be in compliance with §84.48, if the provider utilizes the department's online driver education course described in §1001.059 of the Code.
