(a) At the end of a race, the official timer shall post the official time on the tote board on instruction by the stewards.(b) The official timer shall post the quarter times (splits) for thoroughbred races in fractions on the tote board as a race is being run. For quarter horse races, the timer shall post the official times in hundredths of a second.(c) For back-up purposes, the official timer shall also use a stop watch to time all races and in time trials, the official timer shall ensure that at least two stop watches are used by the stewards or their designees.
