SECTION/RULE §10.872 - Definitions

The following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.(1) Board or THECB--The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.(2) Low-Income Student--A student whose household income is at or below a certain percentage of the Department of Health and Human Service's federal poverty guidelines. The percentage shall be set forth in the RFA.(3) Nonprofit Organization--An organization exempt from federal income taxation under §501(a), Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as an organization described by §501(c)(3) of that Code.(4) Nonprofit Workforce Intermediary and Job Training Organization--A nonprofit organization that engages in comprehensive long-term job training in partnership with a public junior college, public state college, or public technical institute and provides labor market intermediary services to participating students.(5) Program--Texas Innovative Adult Career Education (ACE) Grant Program established under Texas Education Code, chapter 136.(6) Public Junior College, Public State College, and Public Technical Institute--An institution as defined by Texas Education Code, §61.003.(7) Request for Applications (RFA)--The written announcement requesting the submission of applications for available grant funding. The RFA sets forth the terms and conditions of the Program.(8) Veteran--A person who:(A) has served in:(i) the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Marine Corps of the United States;(ii) the state military forces as defined by §431.001, Government Code, other than the Texas State Guard; or(iii) an auxiliary service of one of those branches of the armed forces; and(B) received an honorable or general discharge from the branch of service in which the person served.
