(a) Degree Program Funding Model--The mechanism by which an institution acquires funding to support a new or existing academic degree program. Typically, degree programs are funded through student fees only (self-supported) or a combination of student fees and state funding (formula funded).(b) Formula Funded Degree Program--A degree program or track within a degree program for which the institution reports students for formula-funding.(c) Formula Funding--The method used to allocate appropriated sources of funds among institutions of higher education as required by Education Code, §61.059, chapter 130 or 130A. A formula-funded course is a for credit course for which an institution is authorized to submit semester credit hours or the equivalent for formula funding.(d) Self-Supporting Courses and Programs--For credit courses, certificates, and degree programs whose semester credit hours are not submitted for formula funding, and which are funded through the assessment of student fees by the institution.(e) Self-Supporting Degree Program--A degree program or track within a degree program for which the institution does not receive formula funding and which are funded through the assessment of student fees by the institution.
