SECTION/RULE §21.47 - Definitions

The following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:(1) Participating higher educational institution--a public or private nonprofit institution of higher education, including a junior college, accredited by a recognized accrediting agency as defined by §61.003, or a regional education service center or other entity that offers an alternative educator certification program approved by the State Board for Educator Certification, that:(A) is located in this state, and(B) complies with the provisions of Texas Education Code Chapter 52 and the rules of the Coordinating Board.(2) Student--An individual who is currently enrolled as a student at a participating higher educational institution who has a balance on one or more student loans, and whose debt records are obtained by the institution where he or she is enrolled.(3) Student Loan Debt--Outstanding loans incurred by a student to assist in covering the student's cost of education, for which the participating higher educational institution has a record.(4) Education Loans--Student loan debt.
