(a) Authority. Authority for this subchapter is provided in the Texas Education Code, §54.3531, Peace Officers Enrolled in Certain Courses. This subchapter establishes procedures to administer this exemption program.(b) Purpose. The purpose of this program is to provide an exemption from tuition and laboratory fees for criminal justice or law enforcement course or courses to eligible persons employed as peace officers by this state or a political subdivision of the state.
