In addition to the words and terms defined in §23.1 of this chapter (relating to Definitions), the following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:(1) Eligible Institution--A Texas public institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education, as defined in the Texas Education Code, §61.003.(2) Peace Officer--The meaning assigned by Article 2.12, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.(3) Program--Peace Officer Loan Repayment Assistance Program.(4) Service Period--A period of twelve consecutive months qualifying a peace officer for loan repayment assistance.
