SECTION/RULE §8.96 - Circulation of a Petition

(a) In counties with a population of more than 150,000, the Steering Committee shall be responsible for the circulation of a petition for authorization of an election to levy a public community college branch campus maintenance tax. At a minimum, the petition shall include the maintenance tax limits that shall appear on the ballot in the event an election is authorized. For counties with a population of 150,000 or less or an independent school district within a county with a population of 150,000 or less, no petition to propose an election for a branch campus maintenance tax is required to be submitted to the Board.(b) The petition must incorporate all requirements as set forth in the Texas Election Code, Chapter 277.
