SECTION/RULE §228.79 - Exemptions from Required Clinical Experiences for Classroom Teacher Candidates

(a) Under Texas Education Code (TEC), §21.050(c), a candidate who receives a bachelor's degree required for a teaching certificate on the basis of higher education coursework completed while receiving an exemption from tuition and fees under TEC, §54.363, is exempt from the requirements of this chapter relating to field-based experience, internship, clinical teaching, or residency.(b) Under TEC, §21.0487(c)(2)(B), a candidate's employment by a school or district as a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps instructor before the person was enrolled in an educator preparation program (EPP) or while the person is enrolled in an EPP is exempt from any clinical teaching, internship, residency, or field-based experience program requirement.
