(a) Hospitals shall file discharge reports according to the following schedule as shown in paragraphs (1) - (4) of this subsection unless a hospital has received an exemption letter from DSHS.(1) Each discharge report covering inpatient discharges occurring between January 1 and March 31, inclusive, shall be submitted no later than June 1 of the calendar year in which the discharge occurred.(2) Each discharge report covering inpatient discharges occurring between April 1 and June 30, inclusive, shall be submitted no later than September 1, of the calendar year in which the discharge occurred.(3) Each discharge report covering inpatient discharges occurring between July 1 and September 30, inclusive, shall be submitted no later than December 1 of the calendar year in which the discharge occurred.(4) Each discharge report covering inpatient discharges occurring between October 1 and December 31, inclusive, shall be submitted no later than March 1 of the year following the year in which the discharge occurred.(b) Extensions to processing due dates may be granted by DSHS for a maximum of ten working days in response to a written request signed by the hospital's chief executive officer. Requests must be in writing, must be received at least five working days prior to the due date and must be accompanied by adequate justification for the delay.
