SECTION/RULE §479.1 - Institutions Authorized to Receive and Hold Bodies

(a) Approved categories. Institutions or organizations authorized by the board to receive and hold bodies include accredited medical schools or colleges, dental schools or colleges, health science centers, hospitals, schools of mortuary science, chiropractic schools or colleges, osteopathic medical schools or colleges, search organizations, and forensic science programs. Tissue banks receiving donations under Health and Safety Code, Chapter 692A may only transfer those donations to institutions in approved categories.(b) Disapproved categories. Organizations, institutions, and individuals not authorized by the board to receive and hold bodies include undergraduate schools and colleges, graduate schools and colleges in nonmedical/dental fields, paramedical schools or colleges not affiliated with a medical or dental school or college or with an authorized hospital, and individuals unaffiliated with an authorized institution.
