To be eligible for community care for aged and disabled services the applicant/client must:(1) be categorically eligible by receiving supplemental security income, aid to families with dependent children, food stamps, Medicaid, specified low-income Medicare beneficiary (SLMB), or qualified Medicare beneficiary (QMB) benefits; or(2) be income eligible. The applicant/client's and spouse's countable income must be equal to or less than the income limit set by the department. For an individual, this amount is the same as the special income limit set for institutional care (medical assistance only) by the Texas Legislature. For a couple, the income limit is twice the special income limit.
