SECTION/RULE §508.16 - Teaching and Publication

(a) Policies concerning teaching activities shall be developed, implemented, and enforced which address:(1) the terms and conditions of reimbursement or other compensation;(2) the reasonableness of the time spent away from direct patient care and administrative activities; and(3) the training of all students and postgraduate trainees, including the extent of their involvement in patient care activities.(b) A policy concerning the provision of health care by personnel in any student or postgraduate trainee status shall be developed, implemented, and enforced, and provide for close and adequate supervision and for informing the patient of the status of the provider.(c) A policy shall be developed, implemented, and enforced concerning publishing activities. The policy shall address:(1) the need for governing body approval when the views, policies, and procedures expressed in the publication are attributed to the ASC; and(2) the terms and conditions of compensation from publication and the cost of publication.
