SUBCHAPTER C - OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
SECTION/RULE §511.57 - Therapy Services

(a) If a limited services rural hospital (LSRH) provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, or speech pathology services as outpatient services, the services shall be organized and staffed to ensure the health and safety of patients.(b) The organization of the services shall be appropriate to the scope of the services offered.(c) The director of the services shall have the necessary knowledge, experience, and capabilities to properly supervise and administer the services.(d) Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or audiology services, if provided, shall be provided by staff who meet the qualifications specified by the medical staff, consistent with state law.(e) Services shall be furnished in accordance with a written plan of treatment. Services to be provided shall be consistent with applicable state laws and regulations, and in accordance with orders of the physician, podiatrist, dentist, or other licensed practitioner who is authorized by the medical staff to order the services. Therapy orders shall be incorporated in the patient's medical record.
