SECTION/RULE §559.71 - Accident, Injury, or Acute Illness

(a) A facility must stock and maintain in a single location first aid supplies to treat burns, cuts, and poisoning.(b) In the event of accident or injury to a client requiring emergency medical, dental, or nursing care, or in the event of death of a client, a facility must:(1) arrange for emergency care or transfer of the client to an appropriate place for treatment, including:(A) a physician's or practitioner's office;(B) a clinic; or(C) a hospital;(2) immediately notify the client's physician and responsible party or agency who admitted the client to the facility; and(3) describe and document the accident, injury, or illness on a separate report. The report must contain a statement of final disposition and be maintained on file as required by §559.75 of this subchapter (relating to Client Records).
