SECTION/RULE §568.21 - Admission Criteria

A hospital shall develop and implement written admission criteria that:(1) uniformly apply to all prospective patients;(2) permit the admission of a prospective patient only if the patient has a mental illness of sufficient severity to require inpatient mental health treatment; and(3) prevent the admission of a prospective patient who:(A) requires specialized care not available at the hospital; or(B) has a physical medical condition that is unstable and could reasonably be expected to require inpatient medical treatment for the condition.
