(a) If you use electric or battery-operated carbon monoxide detectors, you must:(1) Install a new battery in each battery-operated detector at least annually;(2) Test all detectors monthly;(3) Document the date of the test and the date of installation of new batteries; and(4) Keep this documentation at the home for review during hours of operation.(b) If you use an electronic carbon monoxide detection system connected to an alarm/smoke detection system, you must:(1) Ensure the system monitoring company or the state or local fire marshal inspects and tests the system at least annually;(2) Keep the most recent inspection report at the child-care home for review during hours of operation;(3) Ensure the report includes the date of the inspection and the inspector's name and telephone number; and(4) Make any corrections required in the report.
