SECTION/RULE §748.1709 - What are the requirements for using a nasogastric tube to feed a child?

(a) Only the following may insert a nasogastric tube:(1) A physician; or(2) A registered nurse according to a physician's written orders.(b) You must document each insertion in the child's record. The documentation for each insertion must include the:(1) Signature of the nurse who inserted the tube; and(2) Date of the insertion.(c) You must follow the physician's written orders concerning the tube.
