SECTION/RULE §748.3853 - What are the specific requirements for storing food during a hiking or camping excursion?

(a) You may only use foods capable of being maintained in a wholesome condition with the available equipment.(b) You must refrigerate perishable food when possible.(c) If you use an ice chest to refrigerate food during the excursion, you must provide adequate ice at all times.(d) You must drain ice chests to prevent accumulation of water from melted ice.(e) You may not store meat and other highly perishable foods for more than 24 hours.(f) You must discard any contaminated foods.
