SECTION/RULE §114.80 - Applicability

(a) The requirements of this section apply only to counties that have adopted an early action compact (EAC) clean air action plan, and that along with the largest municipality in each county have submitted to the commission a resolution requesting implementation of a vehicle inspection and maintenance (I/M) program in that county.(b) Travis and Williamson Counties are the only counties in the Austin/Round Rock metropolitan statistical area affected by subsections (a) and (c) of this section.(c) The EAC I/M program requires all gasoline-powered motor vehicles 2 - 24 years old that are registered and primarily operated in Travis and Williamson Counties to undergo an annual emissions inspection, beginning with the first safety inspection. Military tactical vehicles, motorcycles, diesel-powered vehicles, dual-fueled vehicles that cannot operate using gasoline, and antique vehicles registered with the Texas Department of Transportation are excluded from the program. Safety inspection facilities and inspectors certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety shall inspect all subject vehicles.
