SECTION/RULE §30.161 - Community Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to participate in this program, a community must:(1) be a medically underserved community as defined in §487.201, Texas Government Code;(2) exist in perpetuity as a non-profit entity governed by council members, commissioners, or a board of trustees that:(A) is responsible to and serves the community in which it is located;(B) is legally authorized to raise funds and/or accept grants and financial gifts from citizens, scholarship funds, or private foundations;(3) not have filed bankruptcy;(4) commit to contributing start-up month to an eligible physician in a minimum amount of $15,000 but not more than $25,000 per year for up to two years;(5) apply for state matching funds available through this program; and(6) contract with an eligible physician who agrees to provide primary care in the community for at least two years.
