The following words and terms, when used in this chapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:(1) Animal identification number (AIN)--A numbering system for the official identification of individual animals that provides a nationally unique identification number for each animal. Only the AIN beginning with the 840 or other prefix representing a U.S. territory will be recognized as official for use on AIN tags applied to animals on or after March 11, 2015.(2) Approved livestock facility--A stockyard, livestock market, buying station, concentration point or any other premises, under State or Federal veterinary inspection, where livestock are assembled and that has been approved by the Texas Animal Health Commission.(3) Approved tagging site--A premises, authorized by the Texas Animal Health Commission, where livestock may be officially identified on behalf of their owner or the person in possession, care, or control of the animals when they are brought to the premises.
