(a) The department may conduct examinations and investigations within or outside this state to determine whether an insuring organization has engaged, is engaging or is about to engage in any act, practice or transaction which constitutes an unsafe or unsound practice or a violation of any law or rule applicable to the insuring organization.(b) In lieu of an examination under this section, the commissioner may accept the examination report of another regulator authorized to examine the insuring organization.
